Body Image & Eating Disorders

Living in our culture, it's not surprising if you feel you have to look a certain way to be happy or even healthy. However, the things you are doing to be thin can quickly spin out of control and become a serious life-threatening eating disorder.

Does any of this sound like you?

  • I have to exercise after eating.
  • I feel guilty about certain foods.
  • All of my friends are bigger than me (for males).
  • All of my friends are thinner than me (for females).
  • I try and not eat all day.
  • I don't like eating in front of other people.
  • I worry a lot about my appearance.
  • I spend more time in the gym than others.
  • I have considered or have used anabolic steroids.
  • I think my appearance is more important that just about anything else.
  • I believe vomiting, using diurertics, overexercising, or not eating will help me lose weight.
  • My goal is perfection.
  • I'm not as happy as I used to be.
  • I can't stop thinking about my body.
  • I think about food all the time.
  • I feel like the only person with these worries.
