Sexual Wellness Presentations

AIDS in Black America: The "AIDS in Black America" video by ABC PrimeTime Live will be shown and followed by a discussion. A minimum of 90 minutes are needed for this presentation. A DVD and TV are needed to facilitate the program as well.

Contraceptive Grab Bag: Participants are divided into groups and each group selects one contraceptive out of the “grab bag.” Each group has to answer a set of questions about the contraceptive they selected, ranging from how to use it to its approximate cost. After the groups finish answering their set of questions, the whole group reconvenes and the facilitator goes into more depth about each contraceptive. As always, questions and comments (as long as they are appropriate) are encouraged during this session. A minimum of 10 and a maximum of 50 people are required for this presentation.

HIV Jeopardy: This fun, interactive, and educational activity, based on the popular game show and adapted for a group presentation, addresses facts, statistics, and popular myths about HIV/AIDS. A minimum attendance of 10 and maximum of 40 is required for this presentation.

Latex and Safer Sex: Through interactive activities participants learn why it is necessary to use latex barriers and how to properly use them in order to reduce the risks associated with STIs and pregnancy. Some common misperceptions about latex barriers and other sexual health topics are dispelled as well as discussing other commonly asked questions. Participants have the opportunity to join the Condom Club at the end of the presentation as well. Minimum of 16 and maximum of 40 for this presentation.

Let's Talk About Sex: This session offers an interactive discussion regarding the risks associated with sexual behaviors as well as provides relevant information concerning sexual wellness and college students, including a question and answer session that addresses commonly asked questions and dispels common myths surrounding sexuality and sexual health. Minimum of 10 and maximum of 40 for this presentation.

STI Jeopardy: This fun, interactive, and educational activity, based on the popular game show and adapted for a group presentation, addresses facts, statistics, treatment, and risk reduction of STIs. Minimum of 10 and maximum of 40 people are required for this presentation.

STIs 101: The eight most common STIs (sexually transmitted infections) are the major focus of this presentation. Through group discussions, participants learn the truth and dispel the myths that surround STIs. Frequently asked questions as well as STI risk reduction are also discussed. Minimum of 16 and maximum of 40 for this presentation.

VOICES/VOCES: VOICES/VOCES is a single-session, video-based HIV/STI prevention/risk-reduction program. It's interactive and designed to encourage condom use and improve condom negotiation skills among African-American and Latino adults.A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 students that are gender- and ethnic-specific are highly recommended. At the end of this session, participants are given the opportunity to take samples of the types of condoms they have identified as best meeting their needs.
