New policy on reporting misconduct - Reports can be made anonymously

The Ohio State University has a new policy (effective March 1, 2006) that applies to all faculty, staff and students.  The policy encourages individuals to report misconduct that they observe and protects them from retaliation as long as they make the reports in good faith.  False reports will be subject to corrective action.  The policy applies to inappropriate behavior or activities related to such things as harassment, discrimination, violence, misuse of benefits or other personnel misconduct, as well as to misconduct in the areas of athletics, finances, health care and research.  The full policy is on the Human Resources website http://hr.osu.edu/policy/policy140.pdf

You can make such reports anonymously by using the Web form at www.ohio-state.ethicspoint.com  or by calling this free phone line: 866-294-9350.

This policy does not replace current methods of reporting such as talking to your supervisor, but it is an additional way that those with serious concerns can bring them to the attention of the appropriate persons at the university.
