Isabel Quintero's award-winning debut novel, Gabi, A Girl in Pieces, is a chronicle of Gabi Hernadez's senior year of high school, told through diary entries and a poetry zine. Throughout the book, Gabi writes about food cravings, body image, cultural expectations, boyfriends, her friend Cindy's pregnancy, her friend Sebastian's coming out, her father's meth addiction, her relationship with her mother, and her love of poetry. Read Gabi, A Girl in Pieces by Isabel Quintero on your own and then join a group of undergraduate students for a virtual book discussion on Zoom during Love Your Body Week. Gabi, A Girl in Pieces is available to be checked out for free in physical or digital form and as an audio book from the Columbus Metropolitan Library. Trigger warnings: this book references sexual assault, drug addiction/overdose, teen pregnancy, abortion, and domestic violence.
