Faculty and Staff Workshops
Conversations with the Student Wellness Center
This summer, staff and faculty members are invited to take part in our Conversations with the Student Wellness Center- an engaging 8-week virtual series designed to support you in supporting our students’ holistic well-being. Each week, our wellness coordinators will offer behind-the-scenes insights into the impactful programs and services we offer- from financial coaching and sexual assault and violence prevention support to student outreach and engagement opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
Each session will be packed with practical tools, expert guidance, and real-world strategies to help you support your students’ well-being. Whether you choose to drop in for one session or engage in the complete series, you’ll leave with knowledge, inspiration, and actionable next steps to help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Guiding Students to Wellness
The Guiding Students to Wellness workshop is a 2-hour training designed specifically for faculty, staff and graduate/professional students at The Ohio State University. Training opportunities are offered in-person and virtual. Participants will learn the skills needed to effectively guide students to wellness through Motivational Interviewing and best-referral practices. Participants will learn about Student Wellness Center programming and services and gain tangible skills to help students access wellness-related resources on Ohio State's campus, specifically highlighting nutrition/food insecurity, mental health, sexual violence and financial wellness. Throughout the workshop, there will be multiple opportunities to ask questions and practice scenarios to help participants become more confident in assisting students in need.
Recovery is Spoken Here
Our aim is to foster an environment where students in or seeking recovery feel accepted by their peers, are empowered to live genuinely, feel comfortable asking for help and are celebrated by the Ohio State community. By becoming a Recovery Ally, you are declaring to students in or seeking recovery that you embody these ideals. This 1.5-hour training covers a high-level overview of addiction and recovery, addiction and recovery on campus, recovery friendly language, how to connect students with the CRC and ways to get involved as a Recovery Ally.
The Student Life Student Wellness Center's Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC), in partnership with the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery (HECAOD), is excited to offer our Recovery is Spoken Here training for faculty and staff members.
