Organization Wellness Champion

As an Organization Wellness Champion, your organization will designate a dedicated member to participate in the OWA program components. Note – the member does not have to hold a leadership position within the organization, but they will need to have the support of the organization’s leadership team (including their advisor). Organizations must send at least one member to participate in the program, but because wellness is a collective process, we invite organizations to send up to four representatives (if they can attend all sessions).   

This is a year-long program with the fall semester focused on learning about holistic wellness, identifying wellness challenges within your student organization, and working toward creating a customized wellness initiative for your organization to implement in the spring semester. During the spring semester, we will offer a variety of enrichment opportunities (some optional, some required) that the organization’s wellness champion can complete. However, the primary focus of the spring semester is implementing the customized wellness initiative that your champion has proposed. Your organization will have continued support from your peer advocate and the SWC staff and access to a $500 grant to cover financial costs associated with your wellness initiative. The spring semester and OWA program will culminate with a program-wide celebration and presentation of your wellness initiative. 

Student Organization Eligibility Criteria: 
  • Must be a registered student organization in good standing 

  • Must be willing and able to complete all program requirements (with endorsement from org leadership and advisor)

  • Intentional leadership skills development 

  • Wellness education for individuals and organizations 
  • Increasing overall wellness of orgs and members 

  • Grant money to fund a spring semester wellness initiative  

  • Meals provided in meetings 

  • Mentoring and resources from the SWC

Below is a list of OWA program components according to each semester’s requirements:   

Fall 2024

Apply to participate by September 20, 2024 

  • 3 in-person cohort sessions 

    • Session 1: October 16 from 4-5:30 p.m., Ohio Union  

    • Session 2: October 30 from 4-5:30 p.m., Ohio Union

    • Session 3: November 13, 4-5:30 p.m., Ohio Union 

  • 3 mentoring meetings with your designated peer advocate 

  • Submit wellness initiative proposal by December 15, 2024
Spring 2025
  •  Mentoring meetings Enrichment opportunities 

  • Execution of customized wellness initiative  

  • End of Year Presentation & Celebration
